Hardwood floor refinishing is one of the many services offered by Capell Flooring and Interiors, located in Meridian, Idaho. We use special techniques that restore the floors to their like-new again.
- Sanding: The sanding process is a delicate part of the treatment. The sander must be appropriately handled to avoid pitting the floors. Sanding must be deep enough to sand out the dings in the floor. But not so deep as to sand down the thickness of the planks. The sanding must also sand all the old stain off. The Capell Flooring and Interiors professionals take special pride in the sanding process. They also sand the area around baseboards that doesn't receive much traffic.

Dust Removal: Removing the dust completely is essential for a smooth finish. You may not see the dust after the stain is applied, but the dust will be seen in the final coat and ruin the finish.

Stain: Some types of wood take hardwood stains better than others. White & Red Oak, Hickory, tend to take stain the best, but others, like Maple, and Birch, through a process called water popping, do well with stain now too. Applying the stain evenly takes practice. The Capell Flooring and Interiors professionals have had years of practice on hardwood floors with staining.
- Polyurethane: If done correctly, this is the coat that will make your floors shine with a rich, stylish finish. Polyurethane comes in different glosses to please everyone. This is the coat that will protect the other coats. Polyurethane dries and hardens to form a protective shield over the floors. We usually recommend a matte or satin finish for your floors. If you do gloss or high gloss, it shows every scratch and imperfection more vividly, which isn't ideal. Please discuss the type of finish with your Capell Flooring team representative so we get the correct finish for your home and lifestyle!
